TUFFED WEAR

OUR CERTIFICATIONS

We have many certifications on our garments and packaging. Oeko-tex® and RDS are some of them. But what do they stand for?

This is a world-renowned standard for testing harmful and dangerous chemicals in textiles. If a garment is Oeko-tex® certified, it means that every single detail on the garment (threads, buttons, labels etc.) has been tested for harmful chemicals and that the product is certified safe for use. The standard is updated every year, so that everyone can feel confident that the clothes are clean and health-friendly.

Clothing bearing the bluesign® brand is made with the aim of reducing the footprint as much as possible. Bluesign® is a certification that guarantees production with the lowest possible impact on people and the environment, as well as responsible use of resources. When a product is marked with bluesign®, it means that the entire factory and its employees have been certified according to the bluesign® standard. The brand demands full transparency around chemicals used in production.

RDS stands for Responsible Down Standard, and is a standard that guarantees animal welfare at all stages of production, from farm to factory. The geese and ducks that contribute feathers and down are not force-fed or plucked alive, they also have the right to safe and good living conditions according to the five freedoms recorded by the Brambell Commission on animal welfare from 1965:

  • Freedom from hunger, thirst and malnutrition: by more expensive people having free access to fresh water and a diet that maintains good health and well-being

  • Freedom from physical discomfort: by the animals being kept in a suitable living environment with good sleeping space and shelter from the elements

  • Freedom from pain, disease and injury: through prevention, rapid diagnosis and treatment

  • Freedom to exercise normal behaviour: by the animals being given enough space and company with animals of the same species
