TUFFED WEAR
THE OPENNESS ACT AND OPEN FACTORY LISTS
The main purpose of the Openness Act is to "promote businesses' respect for basic human rights and decent working conditions in connection with the production of goods and the provision of services, as well as ensuring the public's access to information.
Tufte welcomes the Openness Act and we want to contribute to transparency by providing access to information about our production, sharing open factory lists, as well as answering questions about everything related to our clothing production.
This new law obliges us as a company to carry out due diligence assessments; i.e. map, monitor and assess risks for people, animals and the environment linked to our business, and introduce measures where necessary. We have included these assessments in a report which you can find a link to here .
At Tufte, we produce all our clothes in China. The textile industry in China is the world's largest in both production and export, and the economy is one of the largest in the world. The country is developing rapidly and the economy is on the rise. China is a leading country in terms of knowledge, competence and education in textile production.
We have always had a strong focus on sustainability in all forms; in the production of clothing as well as working conditions, human rights and animal welfare. We have a strict CoC (Code of Conduct) with all our suppliers, with clear requirements from us. We carefully select manufacturers who can meet these requirements. We personally carry out several visits a year, while our agents living in China regularly go on unannounced visits, so that we get information about working conditions and production etc. In this way, we can ensure the quality of production and factories.
If you would like to see our CoC or have other questions, you can send an email to: post@tuftewear.no .
