OUR MATERIALS

In today's world, where sustainability and eco-friendliness are increasingly important, we want to help you navigate our clothing and understand the materials we use. While we are committed to finding environmentally friendly alternatives, we acknowledge that there is still room for improvement in some areas. Here is an overview of the materials we use and why we use them. Be sure to check the labels of your clothes to understand what they are made of and make an informed decision for the environment.

BAMBOO VISCOSE

Bamboo is a rapidly renewable resource that is efficient in terms of water and land use, and requires no pesticides or fertilizers. Bamboo viscose falls between the categories of natural fiber and synthetic. It is a reconstructed fiber where the natural cellulose of the plant has been extracted through a chemical process and spun into a material that can be used for textile production. All of our bamboo viscose products are certified according to the Oeko-tex® 100 standard, which guarantees that the material is free of harmful chemicals. Our bamboo viscose garments include: sweatshirts, hoodies, joggers, pajamas, printed t-shirts, Bambull® and Bambull® Blend.

BAMBOO LYOCELL

Lyocell is the process bamboo goes through to become fiber: a closed-loop system with only organic solvents. By using a lyocell process, we significantly reduce water usage by recycling and reusing the water and solvent until it is empty. The organic solution used is called N-Methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO). The end result is a natural and soft fiber completely free of harmful residual chemicals. Our bamboo lyocell garments include: all clothes made of SoftBoost™ (boxers, hipsters, thongs, socks, t-shirts and tank tops), Light wool and Bambull® Blend.

TENCEL

The registered trademark of lyocell. Lyocell is wood pulp from sustainable sources and a renewable resource, as described above under Bamboo lyocell. All Tencel lyocell is biodegradable and compostable. All trees used in production come from sustainable forest plantations with either FSC® or PEFC®. Our Tencel garments include: Green City Tee and Sustainabili-Tee.

MODAL FIBER

Modal is a reconstructed tree-based cellulose fiber: super soft with high wet modulus and high abrasion resistance. The wood is sourced from farms that practice sustainable forestry, and the fiber itself is environmentally friendly and certified safe for harmful chemicals. Our modal fiber garments include: all clothes made of SoftBoost™ (boxers, hipsters, thongs, socks, t-shirts and tank tops), Bambull® Blend and Light Wool.

ORGANIC COTTON

Organic cotton is grown without the use of artificial fertilizers or pesticides, promoting and enhancing biodiversity and biological cycles. It improves the soil and often requires less water than conventional cotton. Our clothing made from organic cotton includes: sweatshirts, hoodies, joggers, pajamas, printed t-shirts, Green City Tees, Sustainabili-Tees, as well as all our outdoor products (jacket, anorak, pants, and leisure pants).

RECYCLED COTTON

Recycled cotton is made from either used clothes or surplus from textile production, which is then shredded and spun into new yarn and material. This reduces the use of conventional cotton and minimizes the use of water, landfill space, and other consequences of cotton farming. Our clothing made from recycled cotton includes: Green City Tee and Sustainabili-Tee.

COMBED COTTON

Combed cotton is softer than conventional cotton because it has no impurities or short protruding threads. It is also stronger than conventional cotton because the combing process removes short fibers that are prone to breakage. After combing, the fibers are tightly bound together, resulting in less fraying and pilling. These benefits, plus the additional labor required during the production process, make combed cotton more expensive and luxurious than conventional cotton. Our clothing made from combed cotton includes: Medium Merino Socks.

MERINO WOOL

Merino wool is super lightweight, soft, does not feel clammy, retains heat in cold weather, and cools in warm weather. It also has natural odor-resistant properties. The wool is renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable. We only use merino wool from farms in Australia that do not practice mulesing. The wool is always 18.5 microns or less to guarantee softness and comfort. Our clothing made from merino wool includes: Bambull®, Bambull® Blend, Light Wool, Merino Socks, and Wool Fleece.

LAMB'S WOOL

Lamb's wool is the soft wool from lambs when they are first shorn, and is the highest quality sheep wool. The diameter of the wool is finer and requires minimal processing. The wool is renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable.

GREY GOOSE DOWN

All of our down is RDS-certified grey goose down. At each stage in the supply chain where animals are present, the standard's requirements ensure that the animal's five freedoms are met, including no live plucking or force-feeding. The down we use is also a byproduct of the food industry, ensuring that the entire animal is utilized and not wasted. Our clothing made from grey goose down includes: Hybrid Down Jacket and Light Down Hooded Jacket.

RECYCLED POLYESTER

Recycled polyester results in less pollution of air, water, and soil compared to regular polyester - it also keeps plastic bottles and other plastic objects away from landfills. Recycling polyester also means that we are not contributing to the influx of more plastic. Our garments with recycled polyester: The workout clothes in the Active collection.

BLUESIGN®

Bluesign® is a certification that guarantees production with the lowest possible impact on people and the environment, ensuring responsible use of resources. When a product is labeled with Bluesign®, it means that the entire factory and its employees have been certified according to Bluesign®.

BLUESIGN® POLYAMIDE

A synthetic fiber in line with polyester, where the factory is certified according to the Bluesign® standard, meaning that all production has the lowest possible impact on people and the environment. Our garments with Bluesign® polyamide: Hiking Tights.

BLUESIGN® POLYESTER

Polyester where the factory is certified according to the Bluesign® standard, meaning that all production has the lowest possible impact on people and the environment. Our garments with Bluesign® polyester: Hybrid Down Jacket and Light Down Hooded Jacket.

BLUESIGN® NYLON

Nylon where the factory is certified according to the Bluesign® standard, meaning that all production has the lowest possible impact on people and the environment. Our garments with Bluesign® nylon: Hybrid Down Jacket and Light Down Hooded Jacket.

RECYCLED NYLON

A more environmentally friendly way to use nylon is to reuse old nylon. This leads to less pollution of air, water, and soil compared to pure nylon, and it helps keep plastic objects away from landfills. Recycling nylon also means that we are not contributing to the influx of more nylon. Our garments with recycled nylon: Tufte Hiking Tights.

CHINLON

A type of nylon. Our garments with Chinlon: Hybrid Down Jacket and Light Down Hooded Jacket.

NYLON

A synthetic fiber made from oil. Nylon is lightweight, smooth, and very strong, and it withstands moisture. We use nylon in our socks and are constantly working to find good environmentally friendly substitutes for synthetic materials, which can be both difficult and time-consuming. Therefore, we currently use nylon.

ELASTANE

A highly elastic synthetic textile fiber that can stretch six to seven times its own length. We use elastane in small amounts to make the garments more elastic and comfortable and to ensure that the garments maintain their shape after use. We are constantly working to find good environmentally friendly substitutes for synthetic materials, which can be both difficult and time-consuming. Therefore, we currently use elastane.

SPANDEX

A brand name for elastane, with the same properties described for elastane.
