Our certifications

OUR CERTIFICATIONS
We have many certifications on our garments and packaging, including Oeko-tex® and RDS. But what do they stand for? Find out more here!
OEKO-TEX®
This is a globally recognized standard for testing harmful and dangerous chemicals in textiles. If a garment is OEKO-TEX® certified, it means that every detail of the garment (threads, buttons, labels, etc.) has been tested for harmful chemicals and the product is certified safe for use. The standard is updated every year to ensure that everyone feels confident that their clothes are clean and healthy.
BLUESIGN®
Bluesign® is a certification that guarantees production with the lowest possible impact on people and the environment, ensuring responsible use of resources. When a product is labeled with Bluesign®, it means that the entire factory and its employees have been certified according to Bluesign®.
RDS CERTIFIED DOWN
RDS stands for Responsible Down Standard, a certification that guarantees animal welfare at all stages of production, from farm to factory. Geese and ducks that provide feathers and down are not force-fed or live-plucked, and they have the right to safe and good living conditions according to the five freedoms of animal welfare set out by the Brambell Commission in 1965:
• Freedom from hunger, thirst, and malnutrition: by providing animals with free access to fresh water and a diet that maintains good health and well-being
• Freedom from physical discomfort: by keeping animals in an appropriate living environment with good bedding and shelter from weather and wind
• Freedom from pain, illness, and injury: by prevention, prompt diagnosis, and treatment
• Freedom to express normal behavior: by providing animals with enough space and companionship with animals of the same species
• Freedom from fear and stress: by keeping and treating animals in such a way that they avoid persistent fear and stress
Our down is also a byproduct of food production. We want everyone who buys a Tufte down jacket to feel confident that the production is ethically sound and that all waterfowl contributing to our down production are treated humanely and live a good life.
